Comparing the Perfect Vision V20 Videoscope and FV-Series Fiberscope


Campbell/Harris Security Equipment Company (CSECO) is chiefly known for the Buster density meter, but it is also known for its other tools such as the FV-Series Fiberscope and the more recent Perfect Vision V20 Videoscope System.

The Perfect Vision V20 Videoscope and the FV-Series Fiberscope are both visual inspection tools, and each serves a similar purpose of inspecting inside areas that aren’t normally accessible or cannot be detected on a surface level. Plus, each has a flexible shaft (with a built-in camera and a powerful LED light at the tip). But the similarities end there, because each of these devices is otherwise different from one another – from the appearance down to the features and functions.

Capturing abilities:
The FV-Series Fiberscope needs to be attached with a video camera to capture photos and record videos. The Perfect Vision V20 Videoscope, on the other hand, does not need to be connected to a video camera or any other bothersome attachments because it comes with a built-in digital camera and video recording, plus on-screen review.

And of course, the most obvious difference between the FV-Series Fiberscope and the Perfect Vision V20 Videoscope is the latter’s 5-inch, multi-directional high resolution color LCD display with a push-button dimming and digital zoom, compared to the eyepiece of the former. The Perfect Vision V20 Videoscope’s large display allows the user to have a clearer look of what he’s inspecting, without losing visibility of his surroundings. The Perfect Vision V20 Videoscope has 10x better image resolution than any of the leading fiberscopes on the market.

Shaft and other features:
The FV Series Fiberscope was the first visual inspection tool from CSECO. It has the 10 x 2.0mm (or 10 x 1.5mm) flexible, 2-way articulated shaft (which is sometimes known as “Freedom View”) with fuel-proof tungsten-coated armor, with a built-in power supply and LED lighting.

The Perfect Vision V20 Videoscope, on the other hand, has a 2.0mm x 6mm shaft, with fuel-proof tungsten-coated armor, with a built-in LED light.

The FV Series Fiberscope has 16,000 individual strands of optic fiber which provides a clear image of the areas being inspected. The Perfect Vision V20 Videoscope does not have optic fibers; instead, it uses a high-quality video chip in the tip construction, which produces clearer and more detailed images (10x that of the leading fiberscope). What’s more, the absence of optic fiber strands makes the Perfect Vision more durable by eliminating the risk of black spots appearing on the image caused by broken glass optic fibers.

Safety:
As implied before, the FV-Series Fiberscope and the Perfect Vision V20 Videoscope are protected with a fuel-resistant tungsten coating. But when safety is of paramount concern, the Perfect Vision V20 Videoscope is more ideal to use, because it is the first scope to be certified “safe” by the Underwriters Laboratory (UL). This means that the device can be used even in the riskiest and most hazardous areas like gas tanks.

You can use either the FV-Series Fiberscope or the Perfect Vision V20 Videoscope together with the Buster density meter to make your inspections for hidden contraband more effective.
