Effective Narcotics Detection with the Right Tools

Many manufacturers claim that their own narcotics detection tools are the “most effective” of all the other tools of their closest competitors. While it's easy to make claims, it is otherwise hard to prove a product's effectiveness and capability to bring the intended result.

But Campbell/Harris Security Equipment Company (CSECO) has little trouble with claiming – and proving – that theirs has the most effective narcotics detection tools that you can possibly find. You may have heard of the Buster density meter, CSECO's first and flagship contraband detection tool.

CSECO is more than just about the Buster, though. A few years ago, it launched a new visual inspection tool, the Perfect Vision V20 Videoscope, which has exceeded expectations of the company and of its clients.

But first, let us delve into the Buster density meter and what it does to counter the drug and contraband flow? Whether you will be a first-time user or have used the Buster a lot of times already, you can be sure of its reputation and performance.

The Buster was designed and developed by CSECO founder Patrick J. Campbell with a significant contribution from the Customs and Border Protection agents, which ensured that the Buster would work well as it was intended.

CSECO recently added safety features to the Buster, which resulted to more update Buster K910G, a successor to the K910B model. Those safety features include:

  • Non-lead components
  • Radioactive source – at least 25% smaller than its closest competing density meters on the market.

Other than the above-mentioned changes, the Buster K910G still has the same features that the K910B has. It still has the low-intensity gamma radiation and scintillation detector, which allow quick scanning of suspicious-looking vehicles that pass through the border as well as certain spaces, packages and cargo. With the low-intensity gamma rays which has a reading depth of up to six inches, the Buster allows an inspector to determine whether any suspect object or space contains hidden narcotics or contraband in just a matter of minutes. With the Buster, there is no need to dismantle or take down parts of the object being inspected, until the Buster reads an unusually high-density count, which indicates that something is indeed stuffed inside that object (especially a hollow object, such as a spare tire).

The RAD-Aware function is still retained in the new K910G model. This radiation-detecting feature allows an inspector (the first responder) to set up safety parameters in the case of a dirty-bomb detonation or any other radioactive release.

While the Buster was great on its own, CSECO knew that other tools would be required in different scenarios. And so, the company introduced the Perfect Vision V20 Videoscope.

There are a lot of advantages of using the Perfect Vision V20 Videoscope:

  • It is a one-piece visual inspecting device, which means there is no need for additional wires or camera attachments.
  • Its five-inch color LCD display has a resolution which is so high, that it is 10 times the resolution of leading fiberscopes. The large display allows the inspector to clearly see into the suspect area without losing visibility of his immediate surroundings.
  • It has a slot for external storage (SD card) that allows for up to 8,000 photos or six hours of video evidence.
  • It doesn't have tiny optical fibers which means that it is less prone to breakage.
  • It has a safety certification from Underwriters Laboratory (UL) which means that it can be used even in locations and areas where there is a high risk of blaze, etc., such as fuel tanks. The Perfect Vision V20 Videoscope's distinction as the videoscope to have a UL safety certification has set the standards for other similar devices to seek for such a designation.

With the Buster K910G density meter and the Perfect Vision V20 Videoscope, you can be sure that your inspections will turn out to be effective, productive and safe. And that's the claim which CSECO has indeed proven – the right tools for effective narcotics detection.
