Is the CT-30 or CT-40 Kit Better?

Campbell/Harris Security Equipment Company (CSECO) offers a variety of contraband detection tools that will suit the different needs of people who work in the law enforcement field, especially those who are actively involved in anti-drug trafficking and anti-smuggling operations.

CSECO is known for the Buster density meter that uses sophisticated technology in detecting hidden contraband items. It has a long history of proven success in locating and seizing hidden narcotics, illegal substances and other contraband items.

Aside from the Buster, CSECO offers a wide range of other products that include the visual inspection tools like the FV-Series Articulated Fiberscope and the Perfect Vision V20 Videoscope Inspection System.

CSECO also offers inspection tool kits that come in two versions:

CT-30 Contraband Team Kit

CT-40 Contraband Team Kit

The first kit released by CSECO, the CT-30 Contraband Team Kit, originally included the following:

Buster K910G Density Meter – In terms of technology and basic functions, the Buster K910G is the same as the K910B. However, the K910G has no lead-based components, and its radioactive source is at least 25% smaller compared to that of the competing density meters. This makes the Buster K910G safer to use, and more environmentally friendly.

FV-Series Series Articulated Fiberscope – This tool is used in conjunction with the Buster. It features a thin, flexible, and fuel-resistant two-way articulated shaft with a powerful light at the tip. It is used for detailed inspections inside suspected objects such as gas tanks, dashboards, inside walls, and many other kinds of hidden spaces.

PN-Series Inspection Probe Kit – It consists of six stainless steel probes of different sizes designed to trap contraband when inserted into certain items such as sacks, car seats, couches, flower beds, etc.

Leica Laser Range Meter – A measuring device used to find false walls and secret compartments where contraband may be stashed.

PM-10 Extension Inspection Mirror with High Intensity Flashlight – It allows viewing into dark and hard-to-reach areas such as the underside of the vehicle.

CT-30 Customer Carrying Case with Wheels – A durable and shock-resistant case that carries all the tools mentioned above.

The newest kit, the CT-40 Contraband Team Kit, includes the following:

Buster K910G Density Meter

Perfect Vision V20 Videoscope – This newest visual inspection tool from CSECO replaces the FV-Series Fiberscope. This one-piece device has a large LCD monitor with a push-button dimming and digital zoom that provides 10 times the resolution of a fiberscope. It also features the thin, long, flexible shaft with a powerful LED light at the tip to make detailed inspections inside suspected objects. The Perfect Vision V20 Videoscope is the first visual inspection tool to be awarded with the Underwriters Laboratory (UL) certification, which means that it is safe to use even in hazardous environments such as gas and diesel tanks.

*Note: The Buster-On-A-Stick telescoping tool is NOT included in both kits.

Ever since the CT-30 kit was released, it has been the “ultimate” kit for many US law enforcement agents who have used it, because it has everything that they need for their anti-narcotics and contraband operations. But when the CT-40 kit was launched, it promised to bring better results with the inclusion of the much-improved Buster K910G and the new Perfect Vision V20 Videoscope. So, it's safe to say that the CT-40 kit is made even better

However, some agents may not have the budget to purchase the CT-40 kit. If that's the case, they can opt for the CT-30 kit which has all the tools needed for successful inspections.

If law enforcement agents who are currently using the CT-30 kit want to purchase the CT-40 kit, but their budget does not allow them, can they trade the Buster K910B / FV-Series Fiberscope for the Buster K910G / Perfect Vision V20 Videoscope at a lesser price instead?

Unfortunately, the FV-Series Fiberscope cannot be traded for the Perfect Vision V20 Videoscope. But the good news is that the CT-30 kit now has the updated Buster K910G.

There is no routine maintenance for the Buster K910G. CSECO only repairs the equipment when it's damaged, at a price.

The CT-30 and the CT-40 kit may differ in terms of function, but both are efficient in their own way to help the law enforcement agents on their quest to suppress and end the activities of drug trafficking and smuggling.
