Using the Buster with Other Drug Interdiction Equipment

Campbell/Harris Security Equipment Company (CSECO) is known for the Buster density meter as a drug interdiction equipment. It was developed by the company founder Patrick J. Campbell with significant input from a team of U. S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers to ensure that it would work as it was intended: to effectively detect narcotics and other types of contraband hidden in vehicles, walls, furniture, cargo, and other items.

The latest version of the Buster, the Buster K910G Density Meter, still relies the original technology that consists of a low-intensity gamma radiation emitter and scintillation detector that enables the user to do quick scans of objects that are suspected of carrying hidden contraband. The low-intensity gamma rays can penetrate the object as deep as six inches, so even if you do quick and cursory scans, the Buster will still be able to send accurate details about the object's density level. The Buster is designed in a way that allows the user to determine whether a vehicle has hidden contraband within 5 minutes or an average-sized room within 10 minutes.

It also has the RAD-Aware feature which allows first responders to set up safety boundaries for other inspectors and civilians in the event of a dirty-bomb detonation or other radioactive leaks.

The Buster K910G is also safe to use – both for the users and the environment. Its radioactive source has been reduced by 25% compared to rival density meters on the market. It is also now free of lead-based components.

Since its launch to the public, the Buster has been hailed as the “gold standard” of contraband detection, despite the rival density meters that have been marketed following its release.

Although the Buster does an excellent job of determining hidden contraband on its own, inspections will certainly be more productive with the aid of other drug interdiction tools from CSECO. You can find them all in the CT-40 Contraband Team Detection Kit. Along with the Buster density meter, you can also find other tools in this kit which can be used in conjunction with the Buster. The CT-40 kit includes the following:

•    Perfect Vision V20 Videoscope Inspection System – The first videoscope to earn an Underwriters Laboratory (UL) safety certification, the Perfect Vision V20 Videoscope has a large multi-directional LCD monitor with a push-button dimming and digital zoom which provides 10 times the resolution of most leading fiberscopes. While the Buster can detect an object's density to determine whether it has hidden contraband, the Perfect Vision V20 Videoscope can show you where the contraband is exactly located.

•    PN-Series Inspection Probe Kit – This kit has stainless steel probes with grooves designed to trap contraband when it is inserted into certain objects from flower beds to sacks.

•    Leica Laser Range Meter – This meter is used to detect and find false walls, bulkheads, and concealed compartments in truck beds, railroad cars, container vans, and any other space with known dimensions.

•    PM-10 Extension Inspection Mirror with High-Intensity Flashlight – It allows viewing into dark and normally inaccessible areas such as the underside of a vehicle.

The Buster K910G density meter is still the most preferred, trusted and recommended density meter by most law enforcement agencies across the country and in many parts of the world. You can use it alone, or better yet, with other drug interdiction equipment for more effective and productive searches for hidden narcotics and other contraband.
